Facing the Fiscal Cliff

| November 30, 2012

National government deficits are threatening the programs that provide health care and services to the people who need them most in our communities. As the fiscal cliff approaches, the HIV Health Care Access Working Group (HHCAWG) is speaking out! HHCAWG sent a letter to Congress urging them to protect programs, such as Medicaid and Medicare, that are vital resources for people living with HIV.

“The HHCAWG represents more than 100 national and community-based AIDS service organizations representing medical providers, public health professionals, advocates and people living with HIV/AIDS and providing critical HIV-related prevention, health care and support services.

We recognize that Congress is making difficult decisions about the best approach to reduce the federal deficit. As you evaluate proposals, please protect people with HIV and other low income individuals and vulnerable populations from harm as you consider any proposals related to Medicaid, Medicare and the ACA.”
